October fest.

*Becoming More in Christ: The Parable of the Slope By Elder Clark G. Gilbert We all have different intercepts in life—we start in different places with different life endowments. Some are born with high intercepts, full of opportunity. Others face beginning circumstances that are challenging and seem unfair. We then progress along a slope of personal progress. Our future will be determined far less by our starting point and much more by our slope. Jesus Christ sees divine potential no matter where we start. He saw it in the beggar, the sinner, and the infirm. He saw it in the fisherman, the tax collector, and even the zealot. No matter where we start, Christ considers what we do with what we are given. While the world focuses on our intercept, God focuses on our slope. In the Lord’s calculus, He will do everything He can to help us turn our slopes toward heaven.
*One Percent Better By Elder Michael A. Dunn Well, acclaimed author James Clear says this strategy puts the math squarely in our favor. He maintains that “habits are the ‘compound interest of self-improvement.’ If you can get just one percent better at something each day, by the end of a year … you will be 37 times better.”
*Other talks had the themes of acceptance--Of love--Of strength and of coming back / coming home.
I finally finished by horses in the waves cross stitch I've had and worked on and off on for a good 15 years. Huge accomplishment. I loved all the art Axel complied while listening. Along with listening for words the kids also looked for "the lords most wanted" for who spoke. In between sessions we took a fun autumn walk by the river. The lighting, weather and feel of nature was perfect.
*Pocatello Temple Open house. Coordinating a time slot for the Kelly's, Proctors, Hatfield's, Amy's and Grandparents to attend together was a little stressful but worth it to see the cousins in the temple together. Fun Fact from Trujillo.--The granite stairs were made with tiles that had fossils in them. Everything was so B-E-A-utiful as always. Zara was folding her arms most of the way super cute. I loved watching the cousins point out their favorite pieces to each other. I'm grateful we were able to share this moment with each other.

Last yard sale of the season was Gooding's Stop and Shop. United Methodist had a "By the Box" yard sale and handed out printed pamphlets with community members addresses holding their own yard sales around town. It was kind of fun crossing off each stop. Got all the kids Halloween costumes from it too blessing. I had originally thought of Flintstones for our family theme but the kids united. "Mom can't we just do our own thing this year!" Sad Day. Zara was still pebbles. I her cat. Katana was a perfect Devil. Mace- Batman. He even indulged me and did the voice a few times. Axel was Locke a character from HALO. He ran into one of his friends from school who was Master Chief. Preston was an Off-duty Electrician. Southern Idaho RV had a little Trunk-or-Treat -petting zoo- thing. Wendell finally came together with a community Trunk or Treat. Mormons brought soup. Catholics had Hot Cocoa. Cops held a can food drive. Blocked off the roads around the park. Kids laughing and running everywhere in the dark. It actually had a hometown feel to it.
