Darlene (Buxton) Jensen
Darlene (Buxton) Jensen, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully Friday April 15, 2022 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Darlene was born August 27, 1932 in Driggs, Idaho. She was the third born of four children to the late Alma Clint and Maude Berniece (Fairbanks) Buxton. The family lived in Bates/Driggs, Ucon, Osgood and Lost River, Idaho. She attended school in Ucon, Osgood and Lost River, graduating from High School in 1950. Darlene was great in academics while being involved in multiple school activities and sports as she was an outstanding athlete.
Darlene met Lorenzo Vaughn Jensen at a dance in the Lost River Valley and naturally Vaughn was smitten, which led to an adventurous marriage in Elko, Nevada March 4, 1950. They established their forever home in Lost River, were blessed with 5 children; Stanley, Jay Vaughn, Neil, Coralee and Carolyn, and were sealed in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple April 19, 1969.
Darlene loved spending time with family, planting flowers, feeding and watching her hummingbirds, fresh lilacs, gardening and canning, riding her bike, cooking for all, picking asparagus, driving up valleys to pick chokecherries, camping and cook-outs, cattle drives with the crew and grandchildren, quilting, listening and dancing to music, doing temple work and fulfilling her church callings, traveling to visit family near and far while always curious and passionate to gain knowledge every chance she had. Darlene truly was a remarkable woman that loved unconditionally and accepted everyone she knew like family. All who knew her were sure to love her back tenfold. She always had such a hard work ethic, being able to accomplish anything and everything from the tough ranch/farm life to tender and kind motherly aspects. She was an amazing care-taker ranging from saving and bottle-feeding calves to snuggling newborn babies, always having such grit and determination yet endless soft hugs and kisses. She always went above and beyond for others. Her daily life and the way she led by example is a direct reflection of her impeccable character and the person she was. We are forever blessed to have known and learned from such a wonderful and remarkable lady as Darlene Jensen.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Vaughn Jensen; son, Neil Arnold Jensen; parents, Alma Clint and Maude Berniece (Fairbanks) Buxton; brother, Clint Brooks (Mary) Buxton; sister, Berniece (James Merrill) McAffee; daughter-in-law, Lori C. Jensen; son-in-law, Stan Blattner; and grandchildren Kellyn Marie Acor and Shasta Marie Acor. Bangs, Birthday, and Bunny day
Pictures tell more but I'll try to explain: #1. I'm experimenting with wild greens. Dandelion season. Petal Soup-fried flowers and Jam. #2 Preston broke down in carry. I went to save him. we got home at like 3am Redneck style. He plugged in a generator to the trucks power port. hooked it to the batteries and strapped it to the hood. it got us home. #3 I helped with the 5th grade early American history day with a teepee building rotation. I got a cute thank you card with all their signatures and a picture. #4 So I did something I've thought about for a while. An ear to ear Undercut. And I love it. It's off my neck and ears. It takes a ton of hair weight off my head. I can do those high updos & pony tails without hair aches. And the short hair styles don't look as bobish but wispy like they should. Preston hates it. oh well he still has his beard. #5 Axel got invited to a birthday party. When I dropped him off I asked what time I should come get him he said "oh we go all night. Have piñatas at say 7. You stay too. We have food." I told him I had other kids at home. " Oh go get them yes." Ok Mexican parties are very different. Authentic Grandma made Mexican saucy meat and potatoes and macaroni salad stuff . It was good. I ate most of 4 plates as the kids were busy playing. about 10 we left with way more than we came with. Piñatas and Party favors. I hadn't said more than 10 words cuz 90% didn't speak English. Those that did were in the bounce house. a little uncomfortable and a good experience. When Mexicans break a piñata, they sing a catchy song: “Dale, dale, dale. No pierdas el tino, porque si lo pierdes, pierdes el camino.” The lyrics mean, “Hit it, hit it, hit it! Do not lose focus! If you lose it, you lose your way!” and when they blow out the candles its tradition to mash the kids face into it. Surprising to see "contamination" post covid. or 1999. chocolate on chocolate-I still ate it. #6 both love and hate my kids to get hurt or sick. Life is forced to slow down and we get lots of snuggles. #7 Breezy Locka got hitched to Cameron. We met him at Thanksgiving. We knew he was keeper. Cart and I got to go to the temple. She was stunning and totally beaming. Brody's continence was also improved as his divorce is finally settled.
April 11 - Zara turned 3! Say what! We got 3 bottle baby Nigerian Dwarf goats. The one was only a few days old. Pumpkin the cat is bigger than he is. At the store she got to pick out some treats. She got a bag of red balloons and gold fish. Her surprise inside unicorn cake was made fun of by lesser minds. "unicorn who got eaten by the swamp monster" "drowning in sequenced quicksand" however she loved it and that's what matters. A Dino staking game took days for some of us to solve. Mace stacked them all on the first try. "my way is much easier" AKA also cheating yet creative.
