Parents Weekend

The kids and I decided to take a weekend to visit Grandma Dixie and Grandpa Calvin.  It snowed the night before and I wasn't sure we'd make it. Thankfully the Freeway was clear.  From Mountain Home to Grand View it started snowing again--kind of scary but we made it.  We totally suprised Mom who was just finishing her reading time with her last kinegarden class. Katana helped her put some books away. Then she showed us off to the rest of the staff. All 7 people. (small school)

While most of the Simplot cows are in the "valley" about 10 Thousand.  Dad fought to get his "uptop"  where they have room to roam and exercise and are away from the rampant scours plague the feedlot.  Dad is calving and putting in BIG days.  Katana was so excited to see his babies.  She was quick to learn the difference between white and black. A few babies wondered off and we had to find them. "get back to you mamma, baby"

I really needed a break.  I love Mom's new house. The layout is perfect.  I think once they get settled in they will really like it too.  But I think Mom forgets it's Her and Dad we like to come see not where she lives.  I like having them close. I should take advantage of it.

Bragging on my nieces and nephews:  When Mom and Dad moved Syringa inherited their fish tank. The McPhaul kids where upset that Grandma and Grandpa would not have fish.  At a store they found a mechanically operated fish.  They went home and pooled all their penny's, nickles and dimes to buy it.   It was a "friend" worthy act of selflessness. I am so proud of them.
