Cart and Brenden went to Mom and Dads for the week as their Spring Break vacation. (Not much of a vacation as they worked their butts off all week but to each his own. ) The Kids and I came Friday night to visit and attend Dad's family oriented branding. A novel idea for the area. Dad had a flat bed next to the fence so the kids could be high and out of the way but still close enough to see and feel included. Newt gave Katana a scrotum sack which she carried around all day. We collected the nuts for a Rocky Mountain oyster fry that evening. Dad kept up a rotation so everyone could rope. It was a beautiful day and went faster then I'd expected.
Simplot provided the meat for lunch and it was the best branding meal I've ever had. Grilled pork and beef steaks, frog eye and potato salads and Mom's famous monster cookies. and marshmallows for the kids. Everyone had fun. That was the main goal...bring out the family's, build connections and a sense of community / Comradery.
We ment to go home monday but a big wind storm came up. Blowing trucks over and 80 mile sand storms.
No one minded the extended visit. We fed with Dad in a big truck and toured the feedlot. Leona's dog Mimmie had puppies Katana adored. The cat had kittens too but we never found them.
