Rhonda Maureen DeGroot Proctor
Rhonda died peacefully in her home Tuesday, February 16, 2016 after a year- long battle with cancer. Rhonda was born on August 11, 1947 in Lusk, Wyoming to Viola Lavona Peterson and John Alden DeGroot. She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 14. She graduated from Aurora Central High School in Aurora, Colorado in 1965.
Rhonda married Gary J. Proctor in the Manti Temple on February 11, 1969. She had three sons and two daughters. She is survived by her mother, Viola Thatcher; brother, David DeGroot; and her children, Gary Jay Proctor, Troy Proctor, Tana Proctor Olsen (Corey Olsen), Sonya Proctor Crawford (James Crawford), and Greg Proctor (Syringa Amy), grandchildren and a great grandbaby.
She graduated from Brigham Young University in August of 1991 with a degree in Special Education.She later earned her Masters Degree in Education. She taught at Park View Elementary and Taylor Elementary schools for over 25 years.
She is leaving a great posterity including 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mom loved teaching, reading, crocheting, and doing crafts. She especially loved taking care of her family which she did up to the very end of her life. She loved tremendously, served selflessly, cared abundantly, and lived beautifully.
She will be missed, but we know she will continue to be with us as our guardian angel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elk Ridge 3rd Ward Chapel, 259 E. Alpine Drive, Elk Ridge, Utah. Family and friends may visit Friday evening, February 19 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery.
