O oOooooO October

The last of fall.  Rosalie Young had extra tomato's. We got 4 boxes.  I used a tic-tok hack of freezing them before canning.  It made peeling so fast.  Our walnuts produced really well this year.  The kids got $1 from me for each #10 can they filled.  Then they sold 3 lbs bags for $5 and split it between them. We found 2 sickly stray kittens at the school when I picked the kids up one day. Kiko means spot in Japanese.  The other  didn't live long enough to have a name stick.  I was gone for super saturday but got the craft kits to do later.  Mrs Lori and Mrs Annie at Wendell library started a stem craft day the first friday of each month. I'm really glad we went.  The kids had fun learning about tension with marshmallow cannons. At ladies night Katana bought some soft hair scrunchies. We got some velvet yarn off temu and she learned to croquet hair ties. I finished the front of my puzzle quilt.  Jade and Lane had a swim meet in Twin. It was so muggy and crowded.  Watching from pool side there was no good place to sit or stand. Axel started on the recorder at school.  He's really excited to do duets with Katana.   4th grade got CSI concert tickets again. Zara came with us. Brooke, Rhett and Emily met us there also.  I got a hair design razor tool that actually works. Mace got red cape runner for the 3rd time in a row. He's the highest in his class and continues to improve the most each month. way to go.

October 14th at about 9:30 we were sitting at the side of the road somewhere in the Nevada desert looking at the sky through eclipse glasses.  An annular eclipse called the "Ring of Fire" was happening and we were in totality.  JD's family, Marc, Pam, and Axel and Mace drove to Ely the day before to go on a 100 year old steam train tour/ride in the desert.  Jade and Echo went to a swim competition so my boys went and used their tickets. We met them that night closer to Elko in the green machine.  The next day we watched the eclipse.  Very cool (as in celestial wonder) and very cool (as in windy fridged.)  It was a little overcast but just as totality hit we got a break in the clouds.  The slight cover made it possible to see without the glasses.  The rest of the day the kids played in the dirt and around camp.   Reading night at the school a few days later was the exact same as last year.   Our story picture featured this fun filled weekend.  For Prestons birthday we finalized plans for an anniversary cruise.  Then a hurried halloween.  We didn't even carve our pumpkins till a few days after. It was my first year decorating a trunk for the Trunk-or-Treat.  We also passed out spooky walnuts in lue of candy.  We also had our families in the twilight zone with Jades girl ask guy dance partner. It's scary how fast this year is going!

*On the 27th headed home from play practice 4 girls were in a car accident.
