Memorial weekend started like any other--- house and yard chores to be done. Katana loves to help with both. Then when the work is done we can play. Preston makes a good horse or "Nee" as Katana calls them.

Sunday we dress in our "heritage" style clothing. I was aiming for a 40's-50's look; Katana rocked the 80's-90's
Preston had Monday off so we decided a day out was in order. We went to the Shoshone Ice Caves. Took a wrong turn and interrupted the caretaker's peyote session at Mammoth caves. Preston was relieved when he realized we wouldn't be depending 'High as Clouds' to navigate us through a dark tunnel. Our real tour at Shoshone Ice Cave was really fun. We were the only people in our party so our guide let us stop and take pictures and linger at our favorite spots. Many of the pictures didn't really turn out cuz it was dark. Cool facts: Some of the rocks have florescent properties. You can see it in the stalagmites / moss on the walls and in the glass display at the end of the tunnel. The ice under the walkway is 8 to 30 feet deep. It was the only ice in the west for hundreds of miles and made the area famous for "Ice cold beer" Vandals in the 50s broke the end of the tube creating an air draft that melted the ice. So the new ice that has built up sadly is not prehistoric as it had once been.
Ended the day Playing on Ice caves Props and a Pick-nick at Shoshone park. We were all tired and grateful for bedtime.
