Apples, Peaches, Pears, Salsa, Chicken. Canning, Drying, Food Storage Baby! Thankfully I was able to con Mom into helping for some of it. For the rest of it I had two "union worker" children. They were great for the first 10 min and a few photos to document their involvement but after that I was on my own. It was a lot of work but I am so grateful for a full pantry.
Spent an afternoon at Brooke's sharing my mad canning skills. Surviving canning and kids we treated ourselves to a trip to the pool. We decided to splurge with ice cream after. Being the last day of the season they were trying to get rid of their inventory and gave it to us Free. I love Free.
Katana loves Primary though you wouldn't know it by the way she goes in. It's been a fight for the last several months. She clings to our legs and cries... bless the presidency and her teacher who takes and holds her down for a few mins. The other day I was invited to "pretend primary". Tiger "reads one of the Book of Mormon" and then Katana helped Axel "give a talk about the Gospels" I wanted to take a video for the ladies at church. "See your calling is important and you are an example to my daughter. And she's absorbing a little here and there. and together we will help fill her spiritual cruise."
CSI celebrated their 50th birthday with a kids carnival, bounce house, face paint, cotton candy, petting zoo, 2000 cupcakes, band and displays. After all this the kids favorite part of the day was the automatic Car Wash with "rainbow" soap on the way home. Stopped to pick up some chickens from Brooke. She and Aunt Juanita had been hard at work butchering their first fowls. I was almost sad I hadn't stayed to watch as their tale of torture was hilarious. Unable to find an ax they stepped on a board and used a rusty old knife to slit it's throat. An hour later-- the wingless, legless Cornish hen sized breast they held for a picture actually started as a stately 2 year old turkey.
