CARDS

I'm sure this year will become a euphemism for a hard time or something that didn't go as planned “that was so 2020” A good thing about Christmas cards is they let you reflect on the whole year. A forest through the trees moment. In our family looking back 2020 actually held a lot of blessings, growth, love and learning. It was a different year but good.
Preston as an essential worker held his job throughout the year. New contracts slowed but never stopped. He used the down time to start remodeling the bathroom and do some tinkering on his bronco.
Katana (9) and Axel (7) enjoyed distance learning at home. They love to challenge each other. “Anything you can do I can do better” (I added Movie Culture to their curriculum so they got the “opportunity” to watch some classics) For Home Ec they each took a day of the week to be my sous-chefs. Music-I dusted off my 5 years of piano lessons and after a few weeks they were playing twinkle twinkle, Mary had a little lamb, and heart and soul. We also set Come Follow Me goals to work on right along side school. Katana wanted to learn to sew. I was thinking a pillowcase--she chose a Necktie Skirt. Axel wanted to Pogo-stick--now he's one handed down the steps (I close my eyes and pray).
Mace (5) and Zara (20 Months) are little buddies. Mace loves ABCYa. Online learning games K-5. Hes working on writing his letters but can identify upper and most lower. He's the one you want to beat but then he grins and you have to hug him fiercely instead. Zara is the baby in every way. We love her, spoil her and think everything she does is adorable; even the slightly naughty stuff. She has a mess of natural curls and an infectious laugh.
While we didn't conceded to the socialistic panic and emotional social distancing we were firm supporters of the BABY SHARK movement. Do do do do. I used corona and snake juice diet to achieve weight loss goals and am down nearly 50lbs. I fulfilled a secret bucket list ambition to shave my head. Yup Preston, me and #8 clippers in the bathroom one night. Actually loved my mohawk, fohawk and comb over do's. Also experimented with green, blue and red hair dye.
We were truly blessed this year with several road trips to family, new tin roof, a few lion head bunnies, & many many memories. Life is good.

Year Highlights. Brenden never stopped working.  We took out a wall.  Did lots of painting.  I had allergy related nasal surgery.  I started allergy shots.  We bought a travel trailer and are fixing it to sell. We joined a weekly homeschool group.  Got out first dog. "Dolly Dog Hatfield"  Berries, beach, berries floating the river. Visits to and from family and friends.
BALER(4)- The loquacious sponge.  He learned to ride a big bike without ever using training wheels.  Construction, building, tools and equipment is his LIFE.  He makes up songs.  Says the cutest and darndest things. BOY through and through.
ZALEAH (1)- Social Butterfly who LOVES EVERYONE. Loves water. (thank you toilet locks) Had a cut above her eye super glued before her 1st birthday.  Sticks EVERYTHING into her mouth (some "items go clean though the system.) Has learned to climb.   ~The Hatfield's~

Christmas Letter from the Prices 2020
In the midst of a global pandemic, we still managed to accomplish quite a lot and receive many blessings this year:
· Erin graduated with a master’s in publishing from The George Washington University and is now getting used to not being constantly busy and stressed.
· Kevin continued to work as a math teacher extraordinaire at Mathnasium, currently teaching online.
· Erin continued working as English program director at Curie Learning, helping the program go from almost no technology to all online—and she is really enjoying teaching online (thank you, easy discipline with the “mute all” button).
· Kevin has been enjoying the best health he has had in years and Erin has been working on her health as well.
· Erin presented on web writing ethics at GW’s Ethics in Publishing conference.
· Erin’s beloved car, Brigham, which has driven with her from coast to coast, finally gave up the ghost, so she donated him to Make-A-Wish and bought a Toyota Corolla.
· Erin and Kevin braved pandemic travel to visit Erin’s parents in Seattle and to visit Utah for her brother Ethan and Channing’s wedding.
· Erin and Kevin enjoyed living near Kevin’s parents and Erin’s sister’s family (and gained a new nephew).
Best of all, we moved to a beautiful new apartment in South Riding, Virginia. Our new address is:
43017 Daventry Square #104

Please write and visit! Have a very merry Christmas!

Jeff & Alberta Jones | 7815 132nd Pl SE | Snohomish, WA 98296Warmest Christmas greetings to you from the Joneses! We apologize for the e-mail this year. We didn’t get photos from Ethan’s wedding in time to get prints made and out and wanted to include one with our letter. We love receiving your cards and hang them all prominently in our kitchen so please don’t take us off your list!!
Amidst the craziness that has been 2020, we still feel very blessed and have tried to make the most of these challenging times. The things we have missed the most are opportunities to be with friends and family more. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope that you can find a way to enjoy the holidays!
The biggest change for us this year is becoming empty nesters. After spending 32 years raising children, we are transitioning to a different lifestyle. Honestly, it is a bit weird because we have spent so much time focusing on our kids that we hardly know what to do with ourselves. We enjoy daily walks and have taken up pickleball as a fun activity we can invite friends to enjoy with us while maintaining social distancing. Our boat suffered an ignominious death this summer and so we are seeing if we can transition away from one of our favorite summer activities.
Jeff was blessed to be able to keep working remotely since March. He misses daily personal interaction with teammates but has found that he actually gets lots more done and loves the 30-step commute. Although nearly 15,000 people have lost their jobs at Boeing, he continues to have job security for now, but this has definitely been the toughest year ever for the company. Alberta continues to work periodically in the schools as a para-educator when she wants and still spends lots of time being a remote mom and grandma, serving neighbors, and church members. She and Kylie have an ETSY business creating specialized prints for special occasions (Landmark Memories) and she writes fun blogs associated with it.
Two more members were added to the family this year with the birth of Mason Mulladjanov in October and Ethan’s marriage to Channing Seegmiller just after Thanksgiving. We are so grateful for both of them! Even during the pandemic, we were able to spend time in Virginia for Mason’s birth and enjoy a ‘perfect day’ wedding, luncheon, and reception in Utah in November. Although we had to put a spreadsheet together to keep track of all the cancelled flights and airline credits this year, we were still able to go to Virginia, Idaho, make a couple of trips to Utah, enjoy the Oregon coast and Mt. St. Helens, and go on some local hikes and other fun outings with visiting family members.
Landon’s unique senior year was a challenge, but he made the most of it and started his college education at BYU this fall. Although he has been quarantined and limited in the typical college experience, he has met many new friends and enjoyed intramurals, a racquetball class, and many other activities with Ethan and his new buddies.
Erin finished her Master’s in Publishing and she and Kevin have moved to South Riding, Virginia closer to Erin’s work. Kylie and Fayoz continue to live in Alexandria, Virginia with their 3 children and Kylie works remotely and Fayoz is completing his education remotely through BYU-Idaho. Payton and Katie are in their last year in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Payton will finish his PhD in the spring and was just offered a remote job as a Data Scientist to work from wherever he wants when he is done. Ethan graduates this month from BYU in Marketing and he and Channing will remain in Provo until she finishes her degree in Marketing in the summer.
Amidst the chaos of the pandemic, the divided nation, and the lack of being able to be with friends and family as we would like, we are grateful for the technologies that allow us to remain connected and feel loved and supported by so many. We are grateful that we have the tools to continue to worship and we are especially grateful at this time of year to focus on what is most important, our Savior Jesus Christ. We join all of you in celebrating His eternal impact in our lives.
