NEW ARRIVAL

Babies come on their own time.
My Doctor went to New York “I’ll see you Monday”
My parents were stressed with the cedar rodeo “You can't have the baby this weekend”    My in-laws were out of cell range on a ward camp out “Please don’t have this baby without us”  so of course labor began about 2 am on Saturday—I thought it was indigestion, but by 5 Preston knew--“call your mother now!”

Thanks to the misconceptions of the media I wasn’t convinced I was in labor.   I wasn’t t huff’n & puff’n, but everyone I talked to said “Why aren’t you at the hospital…. Go Now” At 10 we got ready and headed in.   I felt dumb walking to the front desk “Good morning I think I’m in labor. Where do I go?”

By 1 pm I was a 7.  Thanks to the epidural that slowed delivery dramatically my Mom was able to make it.   A little before 9pm I started pushing.   The baby was 100% posterior and had the cord wrapped around her neck.   Dr. Leavitt was the Dr. we had originally wanted but he didn’t accept our insurance.    He was amazing.  And….

Our precious miracle Katana Kelly came into our lives June 18th at 10:01 pm.  She was 8 lbs 4 oz of perfection.   She had a hard time getting out so her head was way swollen.   The nurses accounting for swelling measured her at 22 in.

Now I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Going Home

Grandma Dixie stayed a few days and was amazing help with Katana and me.  Now I was prepared for pregnancy and labor but no one told me how bad recovery was.
